“I wish I could have a great physique like the guys in the fitness magazines but my genetics suck.”

Are you thinking like that? Does it feel like you will never look like the guys (or gals) on the fitness magazines? Well…you’re right! You won’t look like them but not solely because of your genetics.

Here are 5 reasons why you don’t look like a fitness model on a magazine cover:

You don’t have a consistent, workout plan

Obviously if you don’t have a consistent work out plan, then your physique will look like you don’t work out consistently! To look like the people on the magazine you need to workout on a daily basis with strict nutritional plans.

To get on a workout plan go to your local gym and request to have a workout plan put together for your specific needs. You will be amazed at the results after just a few short months.

Your diet sucks

It’s pretty simple math – if you consume more calories that you burn you will not see the fitness gains you would like. Your body fat percentage will be too high to show any muscular definition, especially six-pack abs.

Their pictures are Photoshopped

Believe it or not, Kim Kardashian isn’t the only one getting Photoshopped in magazines. A lot of so-called fitness models that grace these fitness magazines have their pictures Photoshopped to show more muscular definition? The beauty of photography!

You’re not walking around in a dehydrated state

A lot of fitness models and pro bodybuilders get dehydrated in order to maximize their muscle definition when getting ready for a contest or a magazine photo-shoot. This is a very unhealthy technique, thus why they can hold this condition for only a few hours.

You’re not taking drugs

Please don’t let pro bodybuilders (and some fitness models) fool you into thinking they are 100% natural. Unfortunately, anabolic steroids and other muscle-enhancing drugs is a part of the fitness community. When you see a guy go from 12-inch to 24-inch arms, he is taking a little more than just a protein shake! Not all bodybuilders can be lumped into this, but it is definitely a known issue in the bodybuilder fitness community.

If you take anything from this – its that you should come to an understanding that genes don’t dictate your body, you do! Achieving a phenomenal physique is more about lifestyle than genetics. Stop letting these fitness magazines dictate how you should look and focus on your lifestyle. With healthy eating and a consistent workout plan, you will discover how great your genetics truly are.
