Coconut oil is extracted from the flesh of coconuts and is used as a medium for cooking. It contains a large amount of saturated fats which prevents the oil from becoming rancid within a short time. It can remain in its original state for almost two years before spoiling.
There are many reasons why you should use coconut oil:
1. Kills Bacteria and Viruses
Coconut oil contains saturated fat called lauric acid that constitutes 50 percent of its total volume. This lauric acid is rarely found in other forms of natural substances. The lauric acid gets converted by the human body into monolaurin or monoglyceride which can destroy the viruses responsible for causing diseases like Herpes, HIV, Measles and Influenza. It also destroys various pathogenic bacteria and protozoa like Giardia Lamblia, which causes a disorder in the small intestine of people who do not have access to purified water, especially many in the developing countries.
